Organic anions facilitate the mobilization of soil organic phosphorus and its subsequent lability to phosphatases

چکیده

PurposeOrganic anions commonly released from plant roots and microorganisms are widely reported to mobilize soil phosphorus (P). We characterized organic P that was mobilized by assessed its amenability hydrolysis phosphatase enzymes.MethodsSix soils differing in concentration were extracted with citrate, malate or oxalate solutions incubated preparations of phosphomonoesterase, phosphodiesterase, phytase. Organic compounds present these extracts putatively identified quantified solution 31P-NMR spectroscopy the enzyme-labile fractions changes molybdate-reactive (MRP) concentration.ResultsOrganic mobilization varied markedly among anions. Extraction 10 mM citrate most effective 7.8-fold more total than water controls across all soils. Approximately 95% non-MRP. The increased both amount proportion phosphatase-labile. Phytase generally enzyme up 60% non-MRP being amenable phytase extracts. presence inositol hexakisphosphates extracts, as well other forms including nucleic acids phospholipids, verified concentrations dependent on type.ConclusionThe combination phosphatases represents a key mechanism which plants can enhance bioavailability P. This has important implications for understanding dynamics natural managed ecosystems ongoing efforts improve P-acquisition efficiency agricultural plants.

Extraction of soil organic phosphorus.

Organic phosphorus is an important component of soil biogeochemical cycles, but must be extracted from soil prior to analysis. Here we critically review the extraction of soil organic phosphorus, including procedures for quantification, speciation, and assessment of biological availability. Quantitative extraction conventionally requires strong acids and bases, which inevitably alter chemical s...

Organic Phosphorus Source Effects on Calcareous Soil Phosphorus and Organic Carbon

The loading, solubility, mobility, and plant availability of P is a growing environmental concern to regulators and planners of nutrient management plans, confined animal feeding operations, and wastewater land application permit sites. Insufficient information is available on how P reacts from different organic sources when applied to calcareous soils. A field study was conducted to determine ...

Morphological and Physiological Responses of Carnation and Tomato to Organic Phosphorus Insecticides and Inorganic Soil Phosphorus.

During the last few years considerable attention has been focused upon the use of the organic phosphorus compounds hexaethyl tetraphosphate and tetraethyl pyrophosphate as the active components of certain commercial insecticides. These substances are known to be toxic not only to insects but to other organisms in general as well. As the names of hexaethyl tetraphosphate and tetraethyl pyrophosp...

Enzymatic hydrolysis of organic phosphorus in swine manure and soil.

Organic phosphorus (Po) exists in many chemical forms that differ in their susceptibility to hydrolysis and, therefore, bioavailability to plants and microorganisms. Identification and quantification of these forms may significantly contribute to effective agricultural P management. Phosphatases catalyze reactions that release orthophosphate (Pi) from Po compounds. Alkaline phosphatase in tris-...
